A Little Bit About Higher Learning Hub

I know the challenges of moving from private practice to academia, including adapting to an academic environment and mastering new pedagogical skills.

Thank you for visiting my website!  I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to collaborate and share knowledge as it relates to higher education.  Through this blog and website, I hope to advance our collective knowledge as it relates to academia for the purpose of improving student education!

I earned my Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 2008 and went on to complete my surgical and clinical training at the North Chicago VA Medical Center and Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, IL.  During my residency training, I had the privilege to train with world-renowned surgeons while serving as the Chief Resident.

Following the completion of my residency, I began my podiatric career in a group practice in St. Louis, MO.  This is also where I began my academic career as an instructor with the DePaul Health Center Podiatric Residency Program.  The 4+ years spent in St. Louis as well as my time working with the podiatric residency ignited my passion for education.

In 2015, I had the opportunity and privilege to return to academia as a faculty member, and this has been the best professional decision I could have made.  Working alongside and mentoring the next generation of podiatric physicians is incredibly rewarding, and I look forward to many more years ahead.  I currently serve as an Associate Professor and an Associate Dean, and I’ve been in this role for 9 years.

I am currently board certified by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and by the American Board of Wound Management. I’ve been in practice since 2011, following the completion of my 3 year residency.

I look forward to developing established and creating new connections through this platform as well as sharing our collective knowledge on higher education and medicine/surgery.
